I have sign up for an account but what else do I need to do to get started using LiveParcels?
After you have received notification from us that your service is activated, please do the following.
Site default e-mail
When the web site sent site e-mail notifications, e.g. for account registration, it is always sent from the default site e-mail address.
This e-mail address is configured under Configuration -> Site information.
When we setup your site, we will configure a default e-mail account for you and use this e-mail address as the default site e-mail.
Please make sure you do check the e-mail received by this default site e-mail account because this is where new user registration notification is sent.
Before you start using the web site, please enter the site name and slogan you would like to use for your site.
This is configured under Configuration -> Site information.
Site time zone
Before you start using the web site, please configure country and time zone your web site will operate under to ensure correct display of date/time.
This is configured under Configuration -> Regional settings.
Site web pages
Click the edit tab to edit the contents of any pages on the web site you want to edit.
Store default e-mail
When the web site sent e-mail to someone who have placed an order for parcel, it is always sent from the store default e-mail address.
This e-mail address is configured under Store -> Store -> Basic information -> E-mail address.
Please note that there is also a separate location (Rules for Ubercart) that needs to be updated for your store sender email address and the admin email address/es receiving the order checkout notification. Please contact us to change this because your admin account do not have access to this location.
You may change the store e-mail address but the e-mail address used must be under the same domain name as the web site, otherwise, e-mails sent may not be sent as it is recognized as spam.
Please make sure you do check the e-mail received by this default store e-mail account because this is where order notifications for administrator are received.
Before you start using the web site, please enter the details for your company into the web store. These details will be used and shown when user place orders online.
This is configured under Store -> Store -> Basic information/Store Address/Currency format/Weight format/Length format
Note: there is additional setting for currency display that your admin account don't have access to. Please contact us to set this for you, please quote "change the LiveParcels content type currency symbol for Shipping fee field".
There are three general things you are expected to configure/customize for LiveParcels.
1) Liveparcels country setting
At the top administration menu, Click the LiveParcels link -> Address book country settings.
Make sure all fields in the country settings corresponding to the country you intend to use Liveparcels for.
2) Package size and price
At the top administration menu, Click the LiveParcels link -> Pricing and postcode, you will see a table at the top of the page.
You need to define the different package size limits and the base price corresponding to these package sizes.
LiveParcels uses geocoding to determine the GPS coordinate for the addresses entered into the system, therefore, it needs to know some information to do this correctly and efficiently.
At the top administration menu, Click Configuration -> Location -> Under Default country selection, select the country you intend to use LiveParcels for.
Then, click the Geocoding Options tab, locate the country you intend to use LiveParcels for, select Google Map and click Save Configuration.
You may disable the Google Map option selected for Australia, by choosing None for Australia.
After the page refreshes, Configure parameters link will appear on the right of the country you have enabled. Click Configure parameters -> Enter your Google Geocoding API Server Key (this key may use IP address restriction).
Note: See the next section about obtaining Google API key.
4) Account country default
LiveParcels collect user address during registration.
To change the default country, At the top administration menu, Click Configuration -> Account settings -> Manage Fields -> Under field_user_location, Click Edit -> Change the default country and Click save.
Note: this change will NOT change the country configured in existing account.
LiveParcels settings for distance based pricing
If you are using distance based pricing system (default), there are two additional settings you need to configure/customize for LiveParcels.
1) Google API key
Our system uses Google API for some computations. To ensure your web site works normally, please enter your Google API key.
At the top administration menu, Click the Configuration link -> GMap under Web Services -> Enter your Google Maps API Key (this key may use HTTP referrer restriction).
If you do not enter your own API key, Liveparcels may not work at all, especially when your usage exceeds Google's free usage allowance.
To get Google API key
- Go to the Google API Console.
- Create or select a project.
- Click Continue to enable the API and any related services.
- On the Credentials page, get an API key.
- Note: If you have an existing unrestricted API key, or a key with browser restrictions, you may use that key.
- From the dialog displaying the API key, select Restrict key to set a browser restriction on the API key.
2) Distance pricing table
At the top administration menu, Click the LiveParcels link -> Distance pricing under Settings.
Enter the different levels of maximum distance and the corresponding price multiplier into the table.
To ensure your site works normally, please also enter your Google API key on this page (this key may use IP address restriction).
Note: the distance calculation, i.e. thereby pricing is influenced by whether you selected Straight line distance (default) or Google maps driving distance.
LiveParcels settings for postcode based pricing
If you are using postcode based pricing system, there are two additional settings you need to configure/customize for LiveParcels.
At the top administration menu, Click the LiveParcels link -> Pricing and postcode, under Postcode, region and zone settings, click Choose file, select the csv postcode for your country and click Upload.
Note: you will find additional information regarding the postcode on that page.
2) Zone price multiplier
At the top administration menu, Click the LiveParcels link -> Pricing and postcode, under Zone price multiplier, click the export button to obtain the default zone price multipler csv, modify and then import it.
The zone multiplier here multiples the base price of a package you have configured earlier to calculate the price to deliver a package from one zone to another.
Note: you may need to modify the way you calculate pricing to suit this calculation method.
