How to record pickup/transfer of parcels from/to other courier companies?
Some courier companies do not provide coverage for the entire country and uses 3rd party courier company to service areas they can't cover themselves. In such cases, you can do the following to record the tracking number of those 3rd party courier company.
When one places an order for pickup, there is a customer reference field for every parcel that you can use to enter the tracking number of the 3rd party courier service used. The customer reference field is a searchable field, this means when you enter the tracking number of the 3rd party courier service used, you can find the corresponding parcel on LiveParcels.
If you need to pass on the parcel to a 3rd party courier service to complete delivery, you can record it in the tracking history by setting the Status to transferred and enter the tracking number of the 3rd party courier service used in the Subject/Comment field.
The Subject/Comment field is not shown to anonymous users, your customer must login to see this field and only the user who created the order can see this information.
For information entered in the Subject/Comment field, you cannot locate the tracking history page using the Track parcel search box. However, you can use the site wide search engine to locate it. You can access the site wide search engine by adding /search to the url, e.g. http://demo.liveparcels.com/search
To avoid confusion, the site wide search engine box is not shown by default.
